解答：suggest作“建议”解时，其后可跟名词、动名词及宾语从句。跟宾语从句时，谓语动词一般要用虚拟语气的形式，即should +动词原形，或者把should省略。如：
He suggested a two-day-long stay in Beijing on the way home.
他建议回家时在北京停两天。
My father suggested calling for a doctor at once.
父亲建议马上请个医生。
The teacher suggested that we(should)speak as much English as possible in class.
suggest还可作“暗示”、“表明”“使人想起”等解，这时主语往往是物，后面接宾语从句时，其谓语动词要用陈述语气。如：
The thought of winter suggests skating.
想到冬天便使人想起滑冰。
His sun-burned face suggests excellent health.
他那被太阳晒黑的面孔表明他身体健康。
The white look on his face suggested the fear.
他面色苍白表明了他的恐惧心理。
The smile on the boy’s pale face seemed to suggest that he was happy to have given his life for his country.
