1.be able to 能够表达can所不能表达的时态，如将来时和完成时.例如：
If you travel in almost any other country in the world， you will still be able to use English.
2.be able to 后通常接主动语态的不定式而不接被动语态的不定式，而CAN后接主动或被动语态的不定式都可以。如不能说：
The patient has been able to be operated on.
但是可以说 The patient can be operated on.
3.be able to 用于过去的时态的时候强调的是经过努力而作成某件事情，而COULD就不能表达这个意思
